Carnival balloon blown 250 miles!
Sat 26 SepInto what felt like gale force winds at Muckross on the last day of the Carnival , Donna Lafferty—the Carnival Queen—launched hundreds of (environmentally-friendly!) balloons which almost immediately disappeared from sight. Each balloon had a tag attached asking the finder to return it to Kesh Community Carnival Company.
So, where did they finish up? In all 5 tags were returned by the deadline—with the furthest away being found by Prof. and Mrs S J Foti in Northumberland, about 250 miles away!
Two prizes were awarded—one for the balloon found nearest and one for the furthest away. The furthest away balloon was owned by Marie Irvine, whilst the closest balloon was owned by Heather Kilpatrick. Congratulations to both ladies!
The remaining three balloon tags returned were owned by the following:
Reily Noble’s balloon (found in Dumfries, Scotland)
Claire McCaul’s balloon (found in Castle Douglas, Scotland)
Robert Anderson’s balloon (found in Hawick, in the Scottish Borders)
